![]() ![]() A basic tutorial allows you to gently get a feel for the control and the gameplay, this then unravels to the main quests where you must create a fellowship of the clans to overcome the evil Skeksis. The main gameplay is broken down into a number of mini sections that help to explain the story, and progresses you nicely towards the end game. It took a fair amount of trial and error to understand how it worked correctly, but once you know what you are doing, it’s pretty easy to use and made setting up my team and roles a joy. However, an area that wasn’t so intuitive, was the weapon select screen. I did like this part of the game, it made me feel that I was in complete control of how I wanted each battle to play out. You are able to choose the main job and secondary role of any playable character. A small amount of customisation is available to the player. With the ability to choose from a number of recruited characters, you are able to adjust your party for each mission to enhance your chances of succeeding. Like any classic tactical, turn-based game, preparation is key. They had such creative freedom to implement their own ideas, but it felt like they played it safe maybe they feared upsetting the hardcore base of cult fans. The development team had such an opportunity to run with Henson’s imagery and work, but I was left feeling disappointed that they didn’t explore his creation further. This gives you the illusion of choice, but ultimately it doesn’t matter which you chose as they all lead to the same conclusion. The title itself is set throughout the whole land of Thra, the map is laid out in a tabletop view, and you are given full freedom to select any available quest that you wish. I don’t believe you will empathise with the Gelflings as you should, and that experience of dread at the sight of the Skeksis is certainly missing. As you venture through the world, the tale slowly unravels, almost making it feel disjointed and hard to follow. The developers failed to create any form of cutscene that would bring the gaming community up to speed. I fear that anyone who has never experienced Jim Henson’s world or vision will already feel alienated. I’m very familiar with the story behind The Dark Crystal, and as the opening dialogue began appearing on the screen, I felt instantly at home. Having ploughed lots of my time into Xcom, I really wanted this to be somewhere near that level, I tried my hardest not to set my expectations too high as I didn’t want to be disappointed before giving the game a fair go. I couldn’t wait to explore the world of Thra, I hoped to be able put to bed my fears and reinstate the lands balance by restoring memories to overthrow the rule of the Skeksis. ![]() With a genre that I absolutely love, and a film that brings back nightmarish memories, this was surely a game that I would love to play. When I saw the press release for BonusXP’s tactical strategy game The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, I was genuinely excited. ![]() David Bowie prancing around in his tight leggings as the goblin king was extremely disturbing, but the advanced animatronics, and dark storyline of the Dark Crystal petrified me. For me, it’s a toss up between two classic Jim Henson films, The Labyrinth, and The Dark crystal. ![]() This forces it to make common points between the last and first frames which otherwise it often might neglect to do. It helps if you first create control points between say the first 10 frames and the last 10 frames (by selecting those 20 frames) and then generate control points for the rest of the frames. It is fast until it runs out of memory and then it becomes very slow. It makes a difference to how long a sequence you can process if you create a proxy version of the frames at lower resolution (say 800 by 400 pixels) and then apply that as a template - but the template can crash too. It is buggy with long sequences (say more than 600 large frames) on my hardware. ![]() At least not so far as I have worked out. With PTGui you can level as well as stabilize the entire shot only. Here is a tutorial for stabilization with Hugin (free) but the rest of this section just applies to my experience with PTGui: I am only experienced with PTGui and I use it quite a lot for panoramic stabilization of this kind of shot. On a pole in windy conditions for instance. PTGui (and Hugin) can be used to stabilize all sorts of (fixed position where you are trying to hold the camera steady in the same direction) panoramic videos if you convert the video first to frame sequences. I think it can only handle 360 videos (unless you pad them out to 360). I am not sure if you can input an already stitched panorama (like one of a pair of stereo 360 equirectangulars say) but I think you can. It is a big achievement though to have direct tracking of panoramic videos - with a standard 3d program you would need to convert your equirectangular to an extracted rectilinear view and the tracking might not be as robust as Videostitch can achieve with the data from the whole 360 frame. ![]() However this is a beta release and it is not very stable and there is some discontent with modifications of the operation of the stabilizer in the latest beta and I got a thin black seam at the end of my 360 output in my testing. But the ease of use is great and it is, like the rest of Videostitch operations, extremely fast. ![]() It works but it is by no means as powerful as what you could do with a dedicated 3d or some tracking programs where you could, say, remove all roll and pitch motion, set them both to zero, and apply smoothing to the yaw track so you get a level, smoothly turning video output. As you can see by the initial graphic on the home page in the interface there is a tab where you can see tracking data for roll, pitch and yaw through the duration of the stitched shot and you can apply this data to stabilize it. ![]() It is pretty intuitive in operation if you are familiar with PTGui which is used beforehand to create stitching templates. There is a demo version (of the latest beta which includes stabilization) which will output a limited resolution video. Videostitch is a popular (but not cheap) program for stitching panoramic videos (2D) from camera arrays - like from Gopro or Elmo QBIC rigs. I thought I would start a new topic on panoramic video stabilization - hardware and software - if for nothing else to keep all my links to this in one place. ![]() ![]() On the other hand, the path of exile passive skill tree also gives players the opportunity to create a new character. ![]() because the attribute additions provided by jewel are also generated randomly, when players pick up jewel with better attributes or more suitable for their current class during the game, they can be disassembled and replaced at any time. Roberts hypothesizes that a combination of factors contributed to the Anasazi retreat, including the rise of a new religion-an early version of the Pueblo Indians’ kachina beliefs. Scholar David Roberts has written in National Geographic magazine that the Anasazi abandoned every site northwest of a diagonal line drawn between Flagstaff, Arizona, and Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The Anasazi were so sophisticated that they developed permanent settlements, including the Pueblo villages built in cliffs throughout Arizona and Colorado, learned how to cultivate a variety of crops and mined minerals such as salt.Ībout 800 years ago, however, the Anasazi mysteriously departed from their northernmost villages, including those in Nevada. Meanwhile the rest of the rename transaction did acquire locks on the other tables preventing other queries from running. I’m guessing the long running select query prevented one of the rename commands from acquiring a lock on the table to carry out the rename. There are some 30 tables involved here and the sql commands we run attempt to rename all 30 tables in one transaction. However, we recently encountered a fatal flaw in this process whereby a long running select query prevented the rename from happening which then took down our database. Once the load of this data is complete, we make it live by the following process: rename table myschema_live.customer to myschema_staging.tmp_customer We have a daily process by which we load data on a daily basis into our production MySQL database to our ‘staging’ tables (a set of MySQL tables residing on a staging schema). ![]() |
